Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to all the parents I had an opportunity to meet with this past week.  It is always nice to touch base regarding your child's progress, and have some fruitful discussions about how to help them progress more.  Although it is only two weeks until our Christmas break, I encourage all my students to continue their hard work and efforts.  If any suggestions for improvement were made, now is the time to start working on them!  As always, if you have any questions or concerns at any time, please feel free to call or send an e-mail.

Curriculum Updates:

Reading:  Our next set of skills that we will be working on focuses on generalizations, facts, and opinions.  We will especially focus on identifying generalizations, as well as if they are valid or invalid.  In addition, students will learn how to change an invalid generalization into a valid generalization.  Ask your student to share the key words for identifying invalid generalizations!

Math: We move forward and into our unit about perimeter.  Students will review that perimeter is the distance around an object, and can be found by adding all the sides of a shape.  Our target skill will be finding the perimeter of irregular polygons.  Students will also explore and learn the formulas that can be used for finding perimeter of various shapes.
