Newsletter 10/31-11/4

Here's What's Happening...

English/Language Arts: We continue working with the last text of this module, entitled 'Captain Arsenio."  Students will work with story elements and author's craft.  We will also spiral back to review Author's Purpose.

Science: Students will write a scientific argument to wrap up the first chapter of our Ecosystem Restoration unit.

Social Studies: We may get started on the third lesson of this chapter, which focuses on life in the colony of New Spain.

Advanced Math:    This week, we will work on the skills of using ratios to describe and compare speeds and then apply our understanding of ratio tables to work with ratios involving large quantities.

Important Info:

Halloween Fun!
We are looking forward to our Halloween celebration on Monday.  As a reminder, students should bring their costume to school.  They will have an opportunity to change into their costume in the afternoon, before our classroom party.  Please remember they will not be allowed to go to the bathroom in order to change or do makeup, and their costumes should be school appropriate.  We will enjoy a classroom party from 1:15 - 2:00pm.  Then at 2:10pm, we will have our costume parade!  Hopefully the weather will cooperate and allow us to be outside, but if it rains, the students will parade through the gym!

Students are allowed to bring in prepackaged treats to share with the class if they would like.  We do have a student with a peanut allergy in our class, so it would be appreciated if the treat is allergy safe.

Rescheduled Conferences!
For those families who need to reschedule conferences, I will be sending out a new Sign Up Genius this week.  Please keep an eye out for an email with the link!

 Photo Corner!
Being that I was out most of the week, I wasn't able to snap any pictures of the kiddos this week. I'll have plenty to share next week of our Halloween festivities!
