English/Language Arts: This week, we will move on to learning about the skill of inferencing. We will also continue practicing with Word Work List 1 words, in preparation for an assessment on these words on Thursday.
Social Studies: We will begin Chapter 4, Lesson 1, which focuses on the voyages of Columbus and the Columbian Exchange. Students will have the opportunity to continue practicing the skills of GIST and Summary with this text. They will also be introduced to the Key 4 Questions that we focus on for each lesson.
Advanced Math: We move forward next week into learning about algebraic expressions. Students will learn about important vocabulary such as variable, constant, coefficient, terms, dependent variable, and independent variable. They will be able to write algebraic expressions from mathematical phrases, as well as real world story problems. They will have a review day on Wednesday in order to prepare for their first Homework Review, covering Topic 1, Lessons 1-3. They will take this on Thursday in class. They are able to use their notes and resources to help them with this Homework Review.

Curriculum Night Date Change!
Just a quick note to let you know that Curriculum Night has been moved from Tuesday, September 15th to Tuesday, September 29th. This will be a virtual event. More information will be coming in the near future!
