English/Language Arts: We are wrapping up Literature Circles, Narrative Writing, and Word Work List 5 this week! Students will complete their final 2 roles this week - Word Wizard and Literary Luminary, and hold their final discussions. For narrative writing, we will engage in a lesson about ending stories, and then have the opportunity to do some self-evaluation and peer evaluation of their final drafts. Final copies will be due on Friday, December 18th! As for word work, we will do review activities and the quiz will be on Wednesday, December 16th.
Social Studies: We are preparing for our Chapter 5 Test on Thursday! We will work together to create an overview of the most important people/places/ideas, etc. Then we will play a review game on Tuesday. Test is on Thursday!!
Advanced Math: We will have one of our transition weeks this week, as we finish Topic 3 by reviewing our test and completing our digital Math Portfolio reflection slide. Then, students will take the Topic 5 Pretest (we will skip Topic 4 for now, as it isn't a critical chapter). We will finish off the week with some number corner activities, which focus on classifying triangles and identifying transformations, as well as a review of applying order of operations to evaluate expressions.
Important Info:
Permission and Pick Up
You should have received an email from me on Saturday containing two important pieces of information:
1) There is a supply pick up tomorrow, Monday, December 14th, from 8:00am -3:30pm. These supplies contain some important materials needed for some of our holiday activities this week. If you can't pick up materials at that time, please contact me so we can arrange for an alternate pick up.
2) On Friday, December 18th, the 5th grade will be hosting "virtual movie theaters" and students will have the ability to watch a movie of their choice. If you haven't already done so, please complete THIS form to give your child permission to watch the movie of their choice on Friday morning!
A Holiday Visit
I have a little gift for my students, and would love the opportunity to drop it off in person and have a quick outdoor visit with them on Friday afternoon, between the hours of 2:30pm - 5pm. (We are planning on asynchronous activities starting at 2pm) I will wear a mask and remain at least 6ft away at all times. Please complete THIS form to let me know that you are OK with me stopping by for a quick holiday visit. If you aren't comfortable with it, I will still drop off the gift to your house without a visit.
Schedule of Events
