Here's What's Happening...

English/Language Arts: We continue our work in Literature Circles.  I have been SO impressed with the work the students are doing while meeting in their small groups.  I have been popping in to their breakout rooms, and every time I pop in, I hear some wonderful conversations about the books happening.  Students will be introduced to a rubric that will be used to grade their work in Literature Circles starting on Wednesday this week.

In addition to the lit circle activities, we continue to revise our narrative writing story.  This week, students will learn about elaborating on important parts of the story, as well as using a mentor text to gather ideas of things they could add to their own story.  They will also complete the Word Work List 5 Slides!

Science: Students should have sprinkled their terrariums with water on Friday.  If they didn't, please make sure they do.  We will do another check in this week to see how they are growing!

Social Studies: In the final lesson of Chapter 5, students will learn about the expansion of English colonies, and how they were divided into 3 regions: New England colonies, Middle colonies, and Southern colonies.  This will help them understand how the 13 original colonies came about.  Students will have a graded checkpoint assignment at the end of the week on this lesson!

Advanced Math: We are wrapping up Topic 3 this week, learning about problem solving situations with equations and inequalities.  Students will go back to reviewing bar diagrams and using them to fomulate equations and inequalities.  We will review lessons 5-7 on Tuesday in preparation for a Homework Review on Wednesday.  Then we will review all of Topic 3 on Thursday to prepare for the Topic 3 test on Friday.
