Here's What's Happening...
English/Language Arts: This week in Writer's Workshop, students will work on writing to think. This means that instead of simply asking questions, students will ask and answer questions in their writing. We will also cover the skill of sequencing, and engage in stations to help practice this skill, as well as to continue practicing making inferences from maps. They will also practice Word Work List 6 words in preparation for a quiz on Thursday.
Social Studies: We will spend most of our week focusing on Science, but will preview lesson 3 of Chapter 6, which focuses on every day life in the colonies.
Advanced Math: We will be wrapping up Topic 5 this week. We start with a review of Lessons 3-5 and students will do the Topic 5, L.3-5 Homework Review as a homework assignment on Monday. As always, students will be allowed to use their notes and resources to complete it. Then, on Tuesday, students will engage in activities to review all parts of Topic 5, in order to be prepared for a test on Thursday.
Important Info:
MAP Testing
Students will take the Winter MAP tests this week. As of right now, they will take the Reading MAP test on Tuesday and Math MAP test on Wednesday. Seeing that there is a major snow event headed our way, it is possible that we may shift to taking them on Wednesday and Thursday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we are scheduled to take them from 10:30-11:45AM. As always, I will encourage students to simply do their best without putting too much pressure on them. It is helpful, though, to ensure that students get a good night's sleep and have a good breakfast that morning!
Schedule of Events
- Tuesday, January 26th: Reading MAPS
- Wednesday, January 27th: Math MAPS
- Friday, January 29th: No School, Remote Learning Plan Day
