English/Language Arts: This week, students will review context clues and use those skills to help them make initial definitions of vocabulary words for our next text, entitled "A Boy Called Slow." This is the story of how Sitting Bull earned his name. We will read the story on Wednesday, as well as discuss key words and phrases that can be used to show they are citing evidence. They will practice using these phrases by answering text dependent questions. They will also work on ELA stations, including practice on theme and story structure, continuing work on text dependent questions, and completing the Word Work List 4 sort and definitions.
Social Studies: All we will do this week is review and reflect on the Chapter 4 test!
Advanced Math: This week, students will learn about the distributive property, which includes both distributing over addition and subtraction, as well as factoring out a common factor. Then, we will have a day of review for GCF, LCM, & Distributive property. This will help students be prepared for an open-note quiz on these skills on Thursday.
Important Info:
Conferences this week!
Parent teacher conferenes are this week! I will send you an email the morning of your conference, which will contain a link to the Zoom meeting. I will have a few items to share with you, including a student reflection and a review of current data. Your child will bring home a MAP score sheet on the day of their conference. Please be sure to ask them for it! If there is anything in particular you would like to discuss, it would be great if you sent me an email prior to our conference so I can be prepared to discuss. I am looking forward to meeting with you virtually this week to discuss your child's progress!
