Here's What's Happening...

English/Language Arts: We will continue our work with the text Teammates by engaging in stations.  In these stations, students will continue to practice finding the perspective of various situations, practice using commas in different ways, and continue to practice the RACES strategy for answering open ended questions.  They will complete an assessment for Teammates on Wednesday.  We wrap up the week by taking stock of our writing that we have done so far and setting some goals as we get ready to move into the second part of our narrative writing unit.

Science: We are wrapping up our first unit in Science this week!  Students will work to identify two more constellations on our artifact, as well as gather ideas about what the missing piece will look like.  Students will complete the Unit 1 assessment on Thursday.  I will provide an overview of the most important parts of the unit that students should be familiar with.

Social Studies: We will finish up our investigation of what happened to the lost colony of Roanoke and begin learning about the colony of Jamestown.

Advanced Math:  We are going to wrap up Unit 2 this week by finishing our lesson about part-part-whole ratios, as well as applying those ratios to a real world situation of city planning. On Wednesday, students will engage in review activities to help prepare for the Unit 2 test, which will take place on Friday. Students will bring home the second part of the Family Resource page, which includes problems they can complete to review for the test. Don't forget - the answer key is also included so they can check their work (or you can see the answers as well!).

Candor Health Permission Form!

Your learner received a permission slip on Friday for the Candor Health presentation on the body changes that occur during adolesence. This program is designed to teach our learners about this important topic from a reliable source, in a way that helps makes students feel more comfortable discussing it. Please look for the form and return it to school by Wednesday, November 17th. Reach out if you have any questions at all!
