Here's What's Happening...
English/Language Arts: We will finish the first half of our literature circles activities this week, focusing on the roles of Word Wizard and Literary Luminary. In Word Wizard, students are asked to find four vocabulary words from their reading, and determine the meaning of those words using context clues. They then use the dictionary to find the actual meaning. With Literary Luminary, students select a passage from their reading to practice and recite with fluency, accuracy, and inflection. In addition to lit circles, students will practice List 5 word work words in preparation for a quiz on Wednesday. They will also work on a writing lesson where they learn about developing a story arc in their writing.
Social Studies: Students will learn about the Pilgrims and the Puritans and the colonies they set up in the Americas. Students continue to develop their skills of compare and contrast, as well as main idea and details with this lesson. Students will have a test on Thursday over the three lessons we have covered. They will be allowed to use their notes and textbooks for this test.
Advanced Math: We are rocking and rolling with percentages so far, and students will finish learning about it this week. They will review all skills on Thursday, and take the Unit 3 Test on Friday.

Monday 12/13 - Have an “Attitude of Gratitude” Day - (Classroom activities)
Tuesday 12/14 - Beat the chill with your favorite Hawaiian/Tropical shirt
Wednesday 12/15 - Flannel Day / Winter Hat
Thursday 12/16 - Cozy up for winter with your PJs and slippers
