Here's What's Happening...
English/Language Arts: We will spend our week working with the last text of this module, entitled 'Captain Arsenio." Students will engage in vocabulary work, learn about inferencing, story elements, and author's craft. We will also spiral back to review Author's Purpose.
Social Studies: We will wrap up looking at how Spain continued their conquest of the Americas by learning about Cortes and the Aztecs and Pizzaro and the Incas.
Advanced Math: This week, we will prepare for a quiz on Lessons 1-6 of Unit 2. The quiz will be on Wednesday. Then we will move into the second part of the unit, which focuses on solving problems with ratios.

Wednesday, Oct. 26th: Wear Yellow - Let your one word shine bright!
Thursday, Oct, 27th: Wear PJs - Cozy up to your one word!
Friday, Oct. 28th: Show your one word however you choose - Rock your one word!
Conferences This Week!
Just a reminder that our fall conferences are this week! I am looking forward to the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your learner's progress so far in fifth grade. If there is something specific that you wish to discuss at your conference, I would appreciate if you would let me know before our conference so that I can be prepared and efficient with our time.
