Here's What's Happening...
English/Language Arts: We will focus this week on grammar skills, working with common and proper nouns, singular and plural nouns, and possessive nouns. We will also do some one on one meetings to discuss our winter benchmark results and do some goal setting.
Social Studies: We turn back to England's colonization of the Americas and learn about the Pilgrims and the Puritans and the way they set up Plymouth Colony and Massachussetts Bay Colony.
Advanced Math: We will continue making connections between multiplication and division situations. This week students will use diagrams to represent and solve a division problem asking "How many groups?" and a problem asking "How many in 1 group?" Students will take a checkpoint over the first four lessons on Wednesday. Then we will move forward into the next section of the unit, where students will use tape diagrams to represent and solve division problems that ask "How many groups?", but the answer is a fraction.
