Here's What's Happening...
English/Language Arts: We will wrap up our work with "The Miracle of Spring" and students will take the selection quiz for this text. Then, we will move to the last text in this module, which is called "The Poem That Will Not End." Students will complete vocabulary activities, and we will focus on the skills of asking and answering questions, context clues, elements of poetry, author's purpose, and theme.
Social Studies: Students will complete a categorization activity for Jamestown, and then will complete an in class assessment on Tuesday.
Advanced Math: We will wrap up Unit 3 this week, focusing on developing and using strategies to find any percentage of a number, as well as strategies to calculate unknown percentages. We will review for the Unit 3 test on Wednesday, and students will take the test on Friday.
Important Info:
Emergency Day Packets
On Friday, students receieved a packet of work that is to be used in the event of an emergency school closing. If our district makes the decision to close for the day, students should complete the activities listed on the cover page of the packet. Please note - they do NOT need to complete every page of the packet, as it is designed to be used for multiple emergency days. The cover page tells them how many activities they need to complete for the day. There will also be a digital copy of the activities posted in Homeroom Google Classroom if there is an emergency day declared. I will also send an email communication to both you and the students with important information for the day. Students were told to keep the packet in their binder or in a safe place at home. Fingers crossed that we don't have to use it this year!
