Here's What's Happening...

English/Language Arts: Students will continue their initial research for their magazine project and then begin their first articles.  We will also do List 10 Review activities in order to be prepared for a quiz on List 10 word work on Wednesday.

Science: This week, students will have the opportunity to read the short book called A Walk in the Woods.  They will complete the anticipation guide for this reading as they usually do.

Social Studies: We will wrap up Chapter 7, Lesson 3 this week by continuing our exploration of the French and Indian War, as well as extending our understanding of the native groups on the land at these times.  Students will have an in-class graded assignment on this material on Friday.

Advanced Math:  We move on to the second section of Unit 6, which focuses on Equivalent Expressions.  In this section, students will explore what equivalent expressions with variables are and use the distributive property to write equivalent expressions.

Open House

We are so happy to have the opportunity to host our spring open house this year!  Please join us on Wednesday, April 27th, from 6:30-8:00pm.  Stop by our classroom to see some of our work and say hello!  You can also visit the book fair in the gym and the art show in the Multi-purpose room.  I hope you are able to make an appearance!

TGFD Home Workouts!

Each week of TGFD, your learner will bring home an assignment to complete as a family. This is to help facilitate a conversation at home about the topic covered in TGFD that week. Students will have a 10 point TGFD Homework Grade in their Social Science gradebook. In order to maintain the 10 points, they need to complete the assignment at home, and then return the paper with a family signature on it by the next TGFD class. If it is not returned in time, one point will be deducted from this grade. In the past, families have found these wonderful opportunities to foster genuine conversations with their learners, and I hope you will find the same!
