Here's What's Happening...
English/Language Arts: We will start the last text of our natural disasters module. This text is entitled "Hurricanes: The Science Behind Killer Storms." We will get through our vocabulary work for this text, and begin our first read of the text by focusing on the skill of asking and answering questions.
Social Studies: Students will continue to work on their colony project this week.
Advanced Math: This week, we will wrap up the multiplying decimals portion of the unit and complete a checkpoing on multiplying decimals. We will then move into division of decimals. The first lesson sets the foundation for understanding the standard algorithm (though we don't learn it just yet!). Then it moves into long division, starting with whole numbers. We will take some time to ensure students are comfortable with the process of long division before we apply it to dividing decimals.

TGFD Week 4
In week 4, students learned about communication skills and active listening. This week's homework asks you to complete two interviews with your learner. One time, you will be asking the questsions and the other time you will be answering the questions. Please remember to sign and return the homework page by Thursday!
CoGAT Testing
This week, students will take the CoGAT tests. These tests are used for a variety of reasons, including helping identify students who may qualify for gifted services, as well as a piece of determining class placements at Lakeview. These are not tests the students can study for, as they do not directly assess the content or skills that students are taught this year. We do ask students to give their best efforts, and you can help at home by making sure they get a good night's sleep and have a good breakfast in the morning. Here is our testing schedule:

Wednesday, March 8th: 10-11am
Thursday, March 9th: 10:20-11:20 am
