Here's What's Happening...
English/Language Arts: This week, our focus is on an informational video entitled "Homesteading." Students will complete the vocabulary lesson, and continue working with the skills of Monitor & Clarify, homophones & homographs, Cause & Effect text structure, & Media Techniques. Students will take a selection quiz at the end of the week.
Social Studies: We will get started on our American Revolution unit by participating in an activity called "The Kings M&Ms." Students will complete a reflection about this activity. They will also get started on their digital flip book about the major events that lead to the start of the Revolutionary War.
Advanced Math: We move on to the next section of Unit 6, which focuses on exponents. Students will make sense of exponents, both when the base is a whole number and when it is a fraction. They will also use area models to make sense of more complex expressions with exponents, and apply what they have learned to evaluat algebraic expressions which include exponents.
